| Children and Adult Education Ministry - Sunday School "Following Christ, we connect diversity of people with each other and with God." The First Congregational Church Sunday School Program begins each Sunday at the 9:30am worship service. Children begin in the Sanctuary with their families. Prior to the sermon, Reverend Co invites the children up to the altar for "rug time" where he can preach to them in a manner that is age appropriate. Immediately following rug time, the children accompany their teachers upstairs for bible classes. Sunday School is conducted in a classroom setting segmented by age. There are two teachers assigned to each class. The age segments and a brief overview of the programs are: Pre-School (2-1/2 years - Kindergarten) - Crafts, songs and curriculum focus on teaching our young children how very special each child is and that they are gifts from God. Early Elementary (First - Second Grade) - Crafts, workbook exercises, and curriculum focus on art, reading, and storytelling. Children begin associating bible stories and lessons with their own experiences. Middle Elementary (Third - Fifth Grade) - Crafts, workbook exercises, and curriculum focus on teaching how to find the books, chapters, and verses in the bible, understanding the messages and stories of the bible, and applying those teachings in their day to day lives. Mission Works (Sixth - Eighth Grade) - Emphasis is placed on the importance of giving and focuses on various meaningful projects within the church, community and world. When Sunday School ends at 10:45am, children are dismissed to Webster Hall where their parents will meet them. Nursery school / Babysitting is provided during the 9:30am worship service for very young children. Parents should drop off their children at 9:30am in the Nursery, which is located downstairs, and pick them up immediately following the service. Join us at any time!
