In addition to serving as the church's Director of Church Growth & Membership since 1999, Debra Walusiak is the Community Resource Director of the Self-Help Closet & Pantry of Des Plaines , which was established at First Congregational Church in 1971.

She also is responsible for church publicity, and she has served as a lay leader of church worship services for the past seven years.

She also edits the church newsletter, The Tidings. Outside of the church, she has worked in the fields of writing, editing and public relations for 25 years.
