Sunday School

The Sunday School Program at First Congregational Church features Bible Quest classes for children in grades one through six. The Ark program is for preschoolers and kindergarteners and we have a new mission program for children in seventh and eighth grades. All Sunday School activities take place Sunday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. The nursery is available for very young children during the 9:30 worship service. The Sunday School theme for 2006 - 2007 is "God's Gifts to Us." For information on the program or to register your child contact Janet Thompson, Director of Christian Education.

The Ark's two- and three-year olds are grouped together, and the four- and five-year olds share the same class. This year they will learn about how very special each child is and that they are all gifts from God.

Bible classes for grades one through six are based on a four-week rotation model that involves the children in art, food, drama, puppets, video, science and storytelling. Music is also incorporated, and the children sing twice in worship during the school year. The rotation model addresses a variety of learning styles for children. Bible Quest offers a hands-on approach to learning many stories from the Bible. The successful rotation workshop model is in its fifth year.

Seventh and eighth grade Sunday School students are part of Mission Works, a program that emphasizes the importance of giving and focuses on various meaningful projects within the church, community and world.
